STAAR Visian ICL (implantable contact lens)
The Visian ICL (implantable contact–or “collamer”– lens) is indicated for patients who desire refractive surgery but are unable to tolerate LASIK or PRK. Dr. Schulze was the second surgeon in Georgia to implant an ICL, way back in 1999. Since the FDA approval of the ICL a few years ago, we have helped many patients who were not LASIK candidates regain superb vision without glasses by using the ICL. For patients with extreme nearsightedness, we find that the quality of vision achieved with the ICL is better than what we can achieve with LASIK.
