Refractive Lens Exchange for Presbyopia
Refractive Lens Exchange is a procedure that uses the same technology we use for cataract surgery to remove the eye’s natural lens and replace it with a stronger artificial lens (an intraocular lens, or IOL) to correct vision and lessen dependence on glasses and contacts.
Presbyopia (poor reading vision without glasses) can be treated with Refractive Lens Exchange with one of two strategies: use of a multifocal IOL to provide simultaneous far and near vision without glasses, or monovision, in which one eye is set for reading and the other for distance.
